Statement on Overtime Rule Injunction
AUSTIN, TX— The following statement may be attributed to Sara Tays, Board Chair, Texas Association of Business and Gary Gibson, Board Vice Chairman:
“We are extremely pleased with Judge Mazzant’s ruling to issue a nationwide preliminary injunction, thereby halting the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rule,” said TAB Board Chair Sara Tays. “The overtime rule as proposed would have moved too far too fast for most businesses. It would unnecessarily burden employers and adversely impact employees. This ruling is the right choice for a healthy economy.”
Texas Association of Business Board Chairman-Elect Gary Gibson added, “We are appreciative for Judge Mazzant’s ruling and the overwhelming support of the business community led by TAB and more than forty local chambers of commerce from Texas that lent both support and strength to the state’s case that prevailed.”
